Briarforest is a neighborhood located on the west side of Houston. It is bordered by Lakeside Country Club and contains several parks. The Sam Houston Tollway also runs through Briarforest, making navigation to other areas of the city quite convenient – when traffic cooperates, it takes just 22 minutes to drive downtown.
Real estate in Briarforest is primarily composed of high-rise apartments, small- to medium-sized apartment complexes and single-family homes. Briarforest is quite diverse, and is home to more people of British and Iranian ancestry than nearly any other neighborhood in the United States. Many educated and wealthy professionals choose to live in Briarforest because of its prime location and spacious homes – however, young singles also choose to rent apartments in this neighborhood.
Although Briarforest is primarily residential, there are plenty of things to do in and around the neighborhood. Residents hit golf balls at Lakeside Country Club, have picnics in Mary Ann Francklow Park and work out at the Walnut Bend Recreation Center. There are also numerous places to shop in and around Briarforest, including Dairy Ashford Plaza, Benefit Mall, Town & Country Village and Calliope Shopping Center.
