Central Southwest Houston is home to some great Texas-style barbecue.

As its name suggests, Central Southwest Houston is located in the southwest area of the city. Bordered by the Sam Houston Tollway, Holmes Road and Texas State Highway 288, traveling in and out of this neighborhood is relatively simple. This is good news for people who plan to commute to work via car, as many Central Southwest residents do.

Several parks are sprinkled throughout the neighborhood, including Wildheather Park, Townwood Park and Brentwood Park. Central Southwest is also home to the Wildcat Golf Club, which has consistently been named as one of the best golf courses in Houston, and Matt Swanson's School of Golf.

The primary language spoken in Central Southwest is Spanish, although approximately 45 percent of people living in the neighborhood speak English. There are many well-regarded Texas barbecue restaurants in the area, including Beef and Bun Barbecue and Hungry Farmer Bar-B-Q.

The neighborhood is relatively walkable, which means that residents can visit many parts of Central Southwest without ever having to get in a car. In addition, this neighborhood is home to the American Cowboy Museum and the Madison High School Football Field and Track.
