Pacoima is a neighborhood in Los Angeles located to the far north near Angeles National Forest. Major highways in the area include Golden State Freeway, Ronald Reagan Freeway and Foothill Freeway. There is some public transportation in Pacoima provided by a train and bus system.
The Hansen Dam Municipal Golf Course is located on the east side of the neighborhood. It offers two different nine-hole sections for residents to use. Play a nine- or 18-hole game or practice your put at the range. Players can rest at the bar at the end of a long day of golfing.
The Whiteman Airfield Association is also on the east side of Pacoima. Local pilots can store their planes and take them out for a spin later. Fly over Angeles National Forest to get a great view.
The David M. Gonzales Recreation Center is the site of the annual Christmas Parade in Pacoima. Kids and their families flock to see Santa and gather candy. The facility also has an indoor gym and outdoor sports fields.
Pacoima is home to Meet Each Need With Dignity. This group is dedicated to fighting poverty by meeting the basic needs of the homeless. It provides job training, has a dental and eye clinic, and collects food and clothing donations.
