Lawncrest is a neighborhood located on the northeast side of Philadelphia. Roosevelt Boulevard and Lincoln Highway cut through the southern edge of the area. The western border is defined by Tookany Creek, as well as a train line. Though most Lawncrest residents own and rely on a vehicle, some use public transportation as their main mode of travel.
The Juniata Golf Course is located on the southern tip of Lawncrest. The course was designed and built in 1930 by famous golf course architect Ed Ault. Juniata Golf Course is where locals go to play 18 holes on a restful afternoon.
Cardone Industries has a plant in Lawncrest. This manufacturer of auto parts provides the area with jobs, helping to boost the economy. Hospitals are another strong industry in the neighborhood. Cancer Treatment Centers of America has a campus in Lawncrest. The Friend's Hospital is located to the south and the Kindred Hospital is in the center of the neighborhood. Nurses who live in the area can walk to work with ease.
Lawncrest does not have many options for dining or shopping. However, the local train and highways can get residents to nearby shopping hubs.
Tookany Creek is a great source for fishing or recreation. Take a hike along the creek trail or set up a scenic picnic on its shores.
