Foothills Golf Club is a neighborhood on the far south side of Phoenix. Main streets in the area include Pecos Road and South Desert Foothills Freeway. Neighborhood residents travel around the city using their personal vehicles because Foothills Golf Club does not have public transportation. It takes about half an hour to drive to downtown Phoenix from the neighborhood.
This is a great neighborhood for avid golfers. The area is home to the Foothills Golf Club, where residents go to play the sport. The course is an oasis in the desert with bright green fairways and crystal blue lakes. The par-72 golf course extends almost 7,000 yards. Club West Golf Club is on the west side of the neighborhood and is part of the Foothills Golf Group. Play a game on the 18-hole course or stop by the clubhouse for dinner.
South Mountain is just north of Foothills Golf Club. The park is filled with hiking trails, historic homes, a mine and more. As you make your way through the maintains, stop for a visit at Mystery Castle. This monument was built in the 1940s by Boyce Gully. He died before his family could move into the castle with him. Now it is listed in the Arizona Historic Register and is open to the public.
