Apartments in San Ysidro

San Ysidro is a community to the south of San Diego, immediately north of the U.S. – Mexico border. Major roadways in the area include Interstate 805 and San Ysidro Boulevard, which create a "Y" shape through the center of the neighborhood.

Communities including Otay Mesa West to the north border San Ysidro. The Tijuana River Valley borders the neighborhood to the west. The area is named for San Ysidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers.

The community is home to the world's busiest land border crossing, where U.S. Interstate 5 crosses into Mexico at Tijuana. The majority of the commuters are both U.S. and Mexican workers (of both Mexican and U.S. nationality) who travel by car from Tijuana to attend jobs in the greater San Diego area and throughout southern California. You will also find public transportation in both cities solely to serve the border crossing. For example, the San Diego Trolley runs from downtown San Diego to the border.

There are several parks in the neighborhood including San Ysidro Community Park. Howard Lane Park has basketball courts and a picnic facility. Vista Terrace Park offers residents baseball and soccer fields as well as a swimming pool.

San Ysidro School District and Sweetwater Union High School District, which runs San Ysidro High School, serves student residents in the area. The high school district also operates the local San Ysidro Adult Education Center.
