Tierrasanta is a community within the city of San Diego that is bordered to the west by Interstate 15. Major roadways in this area include Mount Soledad Freeway, also known as Route 52 .
A mix of single family homes, condominiums and apartments make up this neighborhood. Residents enjoy the tree-lined streets and secluded small-town feel, though Tierrasanta is located within a 20-minute drive of downtown San Diego.
There are also three shopping centers and several top-ranked elementary and middle schools in Tierrasanta, including Serra High School.
Neighborhood residents have plenty to choose from if they are looking for activities. The community boasts a branch library, jogging/biking trails, and several baseball and soccer teams. Mission Trails Regional Park is a local 5,800-acre area with numerous hiking and mountain-biking trails. Residents can also enjoy the amenities at the Tierrasanta Recreation Center, which include a gymnasium, lighted sports fields, tennis courts, a large swimming pool and meeting rooms.
This community has a very active service group called Friends of the Tierrasanta Canyons that works to keep the neighborhood in good condition by improving and maintaining hiking trails in part of the 800 acres of Tierrasanta Open Space.
