Outer Mission is a San Francisco neighborhood.

Outer Mission is a neighborhood on the southwest side of San Francisco. Major roads in the area include John F. Foran Freeway, Mission Street, Geneva Avenue, Alemany Boulevard, Monterey Boulevard and Bosworth Street. Neighborhood residents can travel throughout the city via car, bus or light rail. Driving to the city center takes about 15 minutes from Outer Mission.

Balboa Park is a nice green area in Outer Mission where residents come with their dogs or children. Kids can climb around on the jungle gym or play soccer or baseball on the sports fields. Restrooms and the police station are nearby. You'll also find tennis courts in the park.

Outer Mission has a variety of shops, restaurants, bakeries and cafes along major streets. The Excelsior Branch of the San Francisco Public Library sits on the eastern edge of the neighborhood. The library's special collections include books and papers on neighborhood history as well as Filipino, English, Spanish and Chinese materials. Some of the branch's librarians are multilingual and speak a combination of English, Cantonese and Spanish in order to cater to Outer Mission's diverse population.

This family-friendly neighborhood is home to several schools, including The Mission Preparatory School, Balboa High School, Lick-Wilmerding High School and Sunnyside Elementary School.
