Central City South is a neighborhood in southwest Phoenix. Major roads include Black Canyon Freeway and Maricopa Freeway. Area residents have access to both train and bus lines, which transport them throughout the city. Driving to the city center is a short trip at just over five minutes.

This historic neighborhood is culturally diverse. The Historic Preservation Office, which is part of the City of Phoenix, works to maintain significant buildings and sites. Once a building is designated as historic by the Historic Preservation Committee, the city provides protection and performs updates to the structures that maintain their original facade.

Much of the north section of Central City South is home to industrial manufacturers. There are both steel and glass companies there, which provide jobs to many residents of the neighborhood.

Central City South has several parks where residents can enjoy the warm weather. The average high temperatures in winter are in the upper 60s. Summer temperatures are hot, but there is very little humidity in Phoenix, making the temperature a more comfortable heat.

Central City South has a handful of restaurants, many of which serve authentic Mexican cuisine. The Uptown Cafe is a diner and a local favorite that features Creole, Cajun and Caribbean food.
