Great Northwest is a neighborhood in northwest San Antonio. Major roads nearby include the Charles W. Anderson Loop, Bandera Road, Connally Loop and Raymond E. Stotzer Jr. Freeway. Neighborhood residents can travel around the city via car or by using the local bus system. Driving to the city center takes about 30 minutes. 

The Great Northwest Community Improvement Association is based in the neighborhood and works to bring residents together. It hosts workshops and classes, such as Zumba, and runs both youth and adult sports teams.

Spend time outside in Great Northwest by playing tennis at the Silver Creek tennis courts, located on the southeast side of the neighborhood. The Emerald Valley Pool is a great spot to cool off. It's run by the Community Improvement Association and is located on the southern edge of the neighborhood. San Antonio weather is warm year round. The average high temperatures range from about 65 degrees Fahrenheit in winter to approximately 95 in summer.

This mostly residential part of the neighborhood is near Timberwood Park and Knowlton elementary schools and HB Zachry Middle School. Northside Voice is in the area as well, and it's a school where residents can get vocal training.
