Maplewood is a large residential neighborhood in Malden, Massachusetts. Malden is a city 5 miles north of Boston, near the Mystic River. Major roads in the area include Massachusetts Route 99 and the Northeast Expressway. Malden is approximately a 20-minute commute to Boston by car. However, the Orange Line train offers a more direct route to Boston's downtown from the neighborhood, with an average commute time of about 10 minutes.

Malden was founded in 1640 and had a citizenry that was very involved in the American Revolution. The city today has a wide array of public parks, community gardens and sports fields. Directly east of the city lies the Rumney Marsh Reservation, an expansive system of forests and marshes that are perfect for hiking, boating and fishing.

Maplewood has several roads that lead directly to Boston Logan International Airport, making it a convenient living location for regular travelers.  

Maplewood has a number of parks, shopping centers and eateries, as well as a movie theater. The north end of the neighborhood abuts Pine Banks Park, a space that is home to the Mystic River Rugby Club. Maplewood is also near Mount Hood Golf Course.
