Mira Mesa is a neighborhood located on the north side of San Diego. Major roads in the area include Tuskegee Airmen Highway, Mira Mesa Boulevard, Camino Ruiz and Black Mountain Road. Neighborhood residents can travel throughout the city via car or bus. Downtown San Diego is about 17 miles (or a 20-minute drive) from Mira Mesa.
The corner of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Camino Ruiz is the commercial heart of the neighborhood. There you'll find grocery stores, shops and restaurants galore. Mira Mesa is a diverse area, a fact that is reflected in the dinning options you'll find. For example, residents stop at both Asian and Mexican restaurants for an authentic taste of ethnic cuisine. The Mira Mesa Branch of the San Diego Public Library is also located at the corner of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Camino Ruiz.
Los Penasquitos Creek borders the northern edge of Mira Mesa. The Los Penasquitos Canyon Trail weaves around the creek and eventually moves into the neighborhood. Area residents can hike along the trail to enjoy the beautiful Southern California view. You can also visit one of the many neighborhood parks if you like to spend time outside.
Mira Mesa is home to several schools, including elementary, middle and high schools.
