Apartments in Newark

Newark is a community in Alameda County, roughly 40 miles southeast of San Francisco. It was named after Newark Castle located in Port Glasgow, Scotland. The neighborhood is an enclave, surrounded by the city of Fremont. The three communities of Newark, Fremont, and Union City make up the Tri-City area. Major roadways in the area include Interstate 880 to the east and State Route 84, which runs through the northern part of Newark.

The San Francisco Bay lies near the western edge of the community. 

Residents enjoy proximity to the Newpark Mall, with anchor stores including Sears, J. C. Penney, Macy's, and Burlington Coat Factory. It also features with more than 140 other retailers.

Newark boasts thirteen parks and sports facilities to keep its residents active, including the George M. Silliman Community Activity and Family Aquatic Center. The Family Aquatic Center has a 32,300-square-foot indoor swim park specifically designed for recreation, fitness and instruction programs for the entire family. The Natatorium boasts four separate pools including: an activity pool, a long lazy river pool with a pair of water slides, a lap pool and a 15-person warm-water spa.

There is one high school in the neighborhood, Newark Memorial High School, and a junior high school, Newark Junior High School. Elementary schools include Kennedy, Bunker, Graham, Lincoln, Milani, Musick, Schilling and Snow schools along with one Catholic elementary called St. Edward.
