Outer Sunset is a neighborhood on the west side of San Francisco that abuts the Pacific coast. Major roads in the area include 19th Avenue, Sunset Boulevard, Great Highway and Lincoln Way. Neighborhood residents can travel throughout the city via car, bus or light rail. Driving to the city center from Outer Sunset takes about 15 minutes. 

The northern boundary of Outer Sunset is comprised of Golden Gate Park, which spans over 1,000 acres. Botanical gardens, the de Young Museum, a Japanese Tea Garden and much more sit within Golden Gate Park. 

The Ortega Branch of the San Francisco Public Library is located on the southwest side of Outer Sunset. There you'll find books, CDs, DVDs and foreign language collections. Neighborhood residents can take classes or join clubs at the library, such as how to grow roses or story time for kids.

Being near the ocean, Outer Sunset has lovely views and beachfront properties. You can bike along the coast on a trail that follows Great Highway. 

You'll find a number of trendy restaurants, cafes and bakeries in Outer Sunset, many of which serve the latest artisanal cuisine. Bike, drive or walk along Noriega Street to find a new favorite eatery. Judah Street also has a high concentration of shops and restaurants.
