Provincetowne is a residential neighborhood approximately 20 miles due south of Charlotte, North Carolina. The neighborhood was formed in the 1980s and began as a community of contemporary homes with larger plots of land than most Charlotte suburbs offered. Now Provincetowne is an established community with a wide range of amenities. Provincetowne lies just south of Interstate 485 and expands southward to the intersection of Marvin Road and Sixmile Creek, only a few miles away from the state border between North and South Carolina. Other major motorways include Rea Road and Ballantyne Commons Parkway. From Provincetowne, downtown Charlotte averages a half-hour commute by car. Public bus transportation is also available. 

Provincetowne is home to numerous restaurants and eateries. The neighborhood also holds a Petsmart, Best Buy, Target and boutique butcherie. Provincetowne has a YMCA branch. Blakeney Shopping Center is a local outdoor mall complete with men's and women's fashion outlets, electronics stores, bookshops and specialty health facilities. 

The area surrounding Provincetowne offers several golf courses and recreational green spaces, including the Golf Club at Ballantyne, a public PGA-championship course. Other nearby parks include Elon Park and Recreation Center, and Big Rock Nature Preserve. A large movie theater sits within close driving distance to Provincetowne.
