Approximately 37 miles southwest of Seattle is the neighborhood of South Tacoma, which is part of the city of Tacoma, Washington. This community is located in a historic shopping area of the city and is accessible via Interstate 5 and South Tacoma Way. The neighborhood is bordered by the old Northern Pacific Railroad, South Orchard Street, Interstate 5 and Washington Route 16.
South Tacoma is home to recreation spots such as Meadow Park Golf Course and South Park. South Park features baseball and softball diamonds, basketball courts, playgrounds, spraygrounds – a special playground with water features to help you cool off when it's warm, trails and picnic spots. Meadow Park Golf Course is family-friendly, and in addition to this 18-hole course, is home to a newer sport called Foot Golf, a combination of soccer and golf.
The Tacoma Mall is in this neighborhood and is a one-stop shop for all your retail needs including women's, men's and children's apparel, jewelry, shoes and accessories. Stores at the mall include Aldo, Crazy 8, Foot Locker, Kay Jewelers and Sears.
The South Tacoma Market is the city's farmer's market and is open on Sundays. Here, shoppers can find a selection of local fruits, vegetables, flowers, meats, bakery items and specialty food items as well as handcrafted arts.
