Central is a neighborhood at the center of Tacoma. This neighborhood borders Highway 16 and stops on the south side of 6th Avenue. Central offers fast accessibility to Interstate 5, which runs northward to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and then directly to downtown Seattle.

Central neighborhood residents have access to a wide array of cultural amenities. A commute through the north end of Tacoma leads to Commencement Bay and Point Defiance Park, which houses a history museum, marina, zoo and aquarium. There are also several parks within the neighborhood's borders, including Snake Lake Park. The Tacoma Art Museum, the Museum of Glass and the University of Washington-Tacoma are located to the east of Central. Furthermore, Central is within the heart of downtown Tacoma, and is filled with diners, cafes, restaurants, antique stores and several thrift shops. Central hosts the Tacoma farmers market every Tuesday, and Tacoma as a whole holds three farmers markets each week.

Central further offers easy access to the Olympic Peninsula, which contains a national forest, making it a perfect destination to explore the wilderness. The Central neighborhood provides the rich downtown atmosphere of Tacoma, a variety of entertainment options, and proximity to some of Washington's most desirable natural attractions.
