Franklin Park is a neighborhood on the southeast side of Austin, Texas. Major roads in the area include the Interregional Highway, East William Cannon Drive and East Ben White Boulevard. Neighborhood residents travel throughout the city via car or bus.
McKinney Falls State Park is just east of Franklin Park. It's run by Texas Parks and Wildlife and is full of natural wonders. You can see the many waterfalls and forest areas while you hike, bike, picnic or fish. Swimming is allowed in Onion Creek. There are several schools in the area, including the Uphaus Early Childhood Learning Center, Rodriguez Middle School, Josephine Houston Elementary School and Mendez Middle School.
Residents can find entertainment by visiting the Austin Rock Gym. This indoor gymnasium features many rock walls (about 10,000 square feet worth) for climbers of varying experience levels. Groups should call ahead to register for a time to use the facility.
The west side of Franklin Park is home to a movie theater, where you can watch the latest box office hits. Cinemark Tinseltown 17 also show some independent or limited release films.
