St. Johns is a community that is a 10-minute drive north on the Interregional Highway (aka Interstate 35) from downtown Austin, Texas. The neighborhood is encircled by State Route 183, Interstate 35 and State Route 290.
The neighborhood association in St. Johns is very active and works to keep the area a fun and safe place for the families that live there. The Community Center provides basic supplies to residents in need. There is a food pantry, notary service, employment information and referrals to community resources at the community center.
Pickle Elementary School is located in the eastern portion of the neighborhood, close to the St. John Branch of the Austin Public Library. It is close to a local park called Buttermilk Branch Greenbelt, which features four basketball courts, picnic tables, two playgrounds, a volleyball court and bridges and trails for residents to enjoy. High school students in the neighborhood attend Reagan High School in the southern part of St. Johns.
Several national chain restaurants are located along Interstate Highway 35 and well as other retail options.
