The Uptown neighborhood of Chicago has several entertainment venues.

Uptown is a neighborhood on the far north side of Chicago that borders Lake Michigan. Major streets in the area include North Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan Road, Montrose Avenue and Lawrence Avenue. Neighborhood residents can use public transportation to traverse the city by bus or train. 

There's plenty to do in the way of entertainment in Uptown. The Aragon Ballroom and Rivera Theater host live performances, such as music events. For a more low-key night, visit the Green Mill, a jazz lounge that used to be frequented by notorious gangster Al Capone. 

Uptown is a very diverse neighborhood and includes the Little Vietnam and New China areas. Eat dinner at a variety of restaurants that take your taste buds on a trip around the world without ever leaving the neighborhood.

The Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary is located right on the lake. Prairie restoration has brought new life to the area, attracting native birds of all kinds. Rarely full of people, the Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary is a quiet oasis in the heart of busy Uptown.

The neighborhood is home to several large park spaces, including several beaches. Cricket Hill is a park near the lake. There is a boating dock there, as well as athletic fields and the Montrose Wilson Dog Beach. 

Uptown, Houston is great for shopping

The Uptown neighborhood of Houston brings together the glam of the suburbs with the thrill of the city. Known for its retail outlets, Uptown is great for anyone who loves to shop. The most famous spot to hunt for a bargain in the area is the Galleria Shopping Mall. The building's recent expansion has made it the fifth largest mall in the country. No matter what you're looking for, you're sure to find it there.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink in Uptown as well. In a five-minute walk, you will find at least two restaurants, bars or coffee shops. From tapas to artisanal chocolate, there is no shortage of dining experience to please foodies in this neighborhood. 

The Uptown neighborhood of Houston has a variety of residential buildings. Apartments are close to single-family homes and both types of living spaces are near enough to grocery stores and attractions to be able to walk. Rather than taking your car out on the town, you can walk to your destination. 

The Houston Country Club golf course is located within the boundaries of Uptown. This is the perfect neighborhood for those who love their tee time. If you love being outside but don't golf, head east to the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center, located just outside the neighborhood lines.
