Apartments in Western Addition

Western Addition is a neighborhood located in San Francisco. The major roadway in the area is State Route 101, which goes through the city center.

Residents have lots to choose from when it comes to housing. There are many rental apartments available in Western Addition, some of which are in historic three-story Victorians, as well as a large number of high rises.

The eastern portion of Western Addition is home to the Fillmore District, which is rich in music history. It is home to jazz clubs where such greats as Billie Holliday, John Coltrane and Duke Ellington made names for themselves. In the 1960s many of the clubs became venues for the psychedelic music scene, opening their doors to acts like Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. Plenty of jazz venues remain in the Western Addition.

Residents can enjoy newer, cutting edge nightspots and microbreweries in the neighborhood as well. Divisadero Street is an eclectic mix of soul food, barbecues, vegetarian, and pizza places that foodies are sure to love.

Several elementary and high schools serve the student residents of Western Addition.
