West End is home to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium.

West End is a neighborhood in Tacoma, Washington, approximately 38 miles southwest of Seattle. This community is situated on the west side of the city along the Puget Sound.

The neighborhood features several recreation opportunities available for the residents of West End including numerous city parks, Highland Golf Course and the Morgan Family YMCA.

Kandle Park features a basketball court, a skateboard park, a community garden, playgrounds for younger and older children, a swimming pool, spraygrounds and picnic areas. Titlow Park is near Puget Sound and has two main trails available for hikers and bikers: Hidden Beach Trail, which is 1.3 miles, and Lagoon Loop, a .75-mile trail. The park also features a sprayground and playground.

The most popular attraction in West End is Point Defiance Park, a 765-acre park that sees more than 3.1 million visitors each year. At the park you can play in saltwater beaches along the shore or catch a glimpse of breathtaking views of the surrounding area and hike through a natural forest. There's a natural forest, saltwater beaches and views of the surrounding area. Park features include swimming, boating, fishing, an off-leash dog park, playgrounds, tennis courts, picnic sites and trails. Fort Nisqually Living History Museum and the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is also situated on the park grounds.
