Yorkmount is a residential neighborhood approximately 8 miles southwest of downtown Charlotte, North Carolina. Yorkmount is nestled north of the intersection of Interstate 485 and the General Paul R. Younts Expressway. The neighborhood's northern border runs along Tryon Road and Billy Graham Parkway. Other major motorways include Nations Ford Road and Arrowhead Road. From Yorkmount, downtown Charlotte averages a 20-minute commute by car. Public bus transportation is also available.

Yorkmount has a wide array of local amenities. The southwest edge of the neighborhood holds Ayrsley Grand Cinema, Planet Fitness, Walmart Supercenter, FedEx and several restaurants. The north side of the area has an antique mall, bowling alley and local brewery. The neighborhood also features a Home Depot, Walgreens, Costco and Yorkmont Shopping Center 

Yorkmount abuts Renaissance Park, an expansive green space that includes a golf course. The area is also home to York Road Community Park, a recreational facility complete with public tennis courts. Renaissance Park Golf Course is an 18-hole public facility and one of the most affordable courses in the area. Other local recreational spaces include Springfield Neighborhood Park and Yorkmont Park.
