South Shore is a neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago that sits against Lake Michigan. Major roads in the area include South Shore Drive, Yates Boulevard and Jeffrey Boulevard. Residents in the neighborhood have access to public transportation via trains and buses, which travel throughout Chicagoland.

The South Shore Cultural Center is a local landmark that was founded in 1905 and rebuilt in 1916. As a historic building, the cultural center was eventually added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The grounds feature a golf course and gardens and the building itself is home to a solarium, a theater, a restaurant and the Washburne Culinary Institute. 

South Shore is an old neighborhood with tree-lined streets and plenty of residential space.
