Barton Hills is near downtown Austin.

Barton Hills is a neighborhood on the southwest side of Austin, right next to the city center. Major roads in the area include the MoPac Expressway, Ben White Boulevard and Highway 360. Neighborhood residents have access to the local bus system, which will take them throughout the city. 

A large part of Barton Hills is made up of park land. The Zilker Botanic Garden is to the north and it's maintained by the nonprofit Austin Area Garden Center. Residents can stroll through the grounds, to see everything from roses to the Japanese garden. 

If flowers aren't your thing, there's plenty more to do both indoors and outdoors in Barton Hills. The Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike trail follows the shores of the Colorado River. You may also want to try your hand at kayaking or canoeing. The Austin climate supports outdoor activity year round. Average high temperatures range from about 60 degrees Fahrenheit in winter to 95 degrees in summer.

Barton Hills is home to the annual Austin City Limits Festival. A variety of bands play at the park venue over the course of a weekend. Many Austin residents return year after year.
